A brand new production showing at the Queen’s theatre, Hornchurch. It is a musical which originally opened in 2002.  The musical is loaded with sing a long classics  from the 80’s band Madness.

The musical  was extra special and significant because it was one for the community by the community boasting performances from people of Havering and Essex and East London.  The community musicals are held every two years.  The cast were magnificent, the children made me smile, it is always nice to see the cast members enjoying  themselves through out.

The consequences of a bad decision can dramatically affect someone’s future and that’s exactly what happened to Joe Casey on the night of his sixteenth birthday.  “Temptation’s on his way”.  Joe soon became a burden to his girlfriend Sarah played by Becky Smith, leading to twists and turns within their relationship.

Joe Casey was played by Joe Watch, and he  had the London thing going on from his tracksuit to his swagger.  However much he tried, trouble just followed him but deep down his heart was in the right place a true “Golden Boy”.

The love story is set in Camden bringing with it the culture of the vibrant town to the stage.

The audience loved the well known pop hits and often could not help but to clap along to the melodies,  the narrative of the show.  Just like the lyrics the show had some touching themes but hidden within the fun of the songs.

The show runs until 31st July.

An incredibly fun production brought to the stage by talented local stars, loaded with Madness smash hits this is definitely “One step beyond”.
