Event in Harold Hill offers free help and advice on winter wellness

NEL Event RainhamAdvice and information on staying healthy and well through the winter months will be on offer at a free event in Harold Hill next Wednesday (20 September).

The event, which takes place from 12.30pm to 3.30pm at Harold Hill library hub on Farnham Road, has been organised by the Havering Place Based Partnership and Core Connector Programme, with support from local partners, and is open to all.

A number of local organisations will be represented, including social prescribers who can provide links to wider support services if required, and members of Havering’s Health Champions team who can offer advice and tips on leading a healthy lifestyle.

People will also have the opportunity to undergo blood pressure checks and get cost of living advice, with information available on the range of help available locally.

It follows a similar event in Rainham last week which supported more than 150 people.

Dr Nanderjit Kullar, a local GP and clinical director of Clinical Director, Havering Borough Partnership, said: “Colder weather can have serious consequences for health, especially for older people and those with heart or lung conditions, so it’s important to do everything possible to keep warm and stay healthy through the winter.

“However, we also know many of our residents are struggling financially and finding it harder to pay their bills, so the aim of this event is to ensure people can access the help and support they need to maintain their health and wellbeing in the months ahead.

“Organisations across Havering are working together on a range of fantastic community initiatives and this event will be a chance to find out more and understand how they can help you. If you live in the Harold Hill area, please come along – everyone is welcome.”
