NHS at 70.

On Thursday July 5th, 2018 the National Health Service (NHS) turns 70.

As part of the celebrations into one of the nation’s most beloved institutions Bedrock Radio and Bedrock Gold will joining in to recognise and thank the extraordinary NHS staff across Queen’s, King George and Goodmayes Hospitals.

At Queen’s Hospital we are providing live PA in the foyer, featuring music from the 40’s to today, plus we are joined by the Queen’s Hospital Choir,  the Chief Executive of BHRUT and other local talent who will be talking and performing throughout the day.

On-Air on Bedrock Radio and Bedrock Gold will be playing music from the decades, talking to staff and gathering your views on the NHS at 70 years old.

Mat Watson

Mat joined Bedrock in 2006, just before the move from Oldchurch Hospital to Queen’s Hospital, today he is our Chairman. He has a keen interest in radio broadcasting and wanted to understand more about production, programming and engineering aspects. He’s even has a qualification in radio production! Mat has worked professionally in broadcast working for commercial, community and online radio stations. But his passion remains with Hospital Radio, he calls it “a unique platform that retains individuality.” Today Mat works in public transport, helping customers with their journeys, but can still be heard on Bedrock on the Sunday Brunch from 10am.
