The organisation that runs four urgent treatment centres in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge has won two coveted national accolades.
Partnership of London Cooperatives (PELC) was recognised at the annual UHUK awards, picking up a Gold Award in both the Clinical Quality and Safety and Operational Quality and Safety categories at the prizegiving ceremony on 6 November.
PELC – a non-profit member-based organisation – runs urgent treatment centres (UTCs) at Queen’s Hospital in Romford, King George Hospital in Goodmayes, Barking Community Hospital in Barking, and Harold Wood Polyclinic in Harold Wood. It also provides out of hours home visiting, and an outreach service to the local homeless community.
PELC was adjudged the winner in two of the nine categories at the 2024 UHUK awards, which seek to showcase the innovative ways social enterprise healthcare providers are responding swiftly and flexibly to changing NHS and patient needs in urgent care.
Steve Rubery, Chief Executive at PELC, said: “We’re delighted to receive two UHUK Gold Awards – they’re recognition of the significant progress we’ve made over the last 18 months in improving the services we provide to local people.
“These awards are also testament to all of the hard work we’ve done in close collaboration with our partners at NELFT NHS Foundation Trust and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, with the support of colleagues at NHS North East London.
“We will continue to strive to deliver the best possible care and experience for patients who attend our local UTCs with urgent health needs.”
Formed in 2004, PELC’s membership is drawn from GPs, health professionals, patient representatives and staff in Barking and Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge.
