Motorists travelling through Gallows Corner could face continued disruption for the rest of the month, with part of the A127 remaining closed while essential water infrastructure work is completed.
A temporary traffic order introduced by Transport for London (TfL) has extended restrictions on the Southend Arterial Road. The closure affects traffic travelling eastbound from Gallows Corner roundabout towards South Essex, covering the section of road near Gallows Corner Retail Park.

The order took effect on 6 June and is due to remain in place until 30 June unless the work is completed earlier.
The restrictions are linked to ongoing water main replacement works being carried out by Essex & Suffolk Water. Engineers continue to work on underground infrastructure in the area, with excavation works still visible along the affected stretch of road.

Diversion routes remain in operation, directing traffic around the closure via the Gallows Corner Flyover, Eastern Avenue East and surrounding local roads.
The latest measures come almost a year after major disruption began at the junction. While parts of Gallows Corner reopened to traffic in May, including Straight Road, Main Road and the westbound side of the flyover, the wider project is still not complete.

Transport for London has not yet announced a date for the full reopening of the junction and surrounding road network. For now, drivers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys and follow signed diversion routes where necessary.
The current traffic order allows the closure to remain in place until the end of June, although the road could reopen sooner if the remaining work is finished ahead of schedule.
