Residents are being encouraged to nominate local sporting heroes as entries open for the 2026 Brentwood and Rochford Sports Awards.
The annual awards celebrate the athletes, coaches, volunteers, clubs and teams who have made an outstanding contribution to sport and physical activity across the two areas over the past year.
Organised by Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council, with sponsorship from Everyone Active, the awards recognise achievements at every level of sport, from grassroots volunteers and community clubs to elite performers.
This year’s award categories include:
- Changing Lives through Sport/Physical Activity
- Community Club of the Year
- Coach of the Year
- Inclusive Communities
- Unsung Hero
- Young Volunteer
- Young Sports Personality of the Year
- Sports Personality of the Year
Nominations are open to residents, sports clubs and community organisations, giving local people the opportunity to recognise those who have inspired others, supported community sport or achieved sporting success during the last 12 months.
The deadline for nominations is Friday 11 September 2026.
Shortlisted nominees will be invited to an awards ceremony at The Mill Arts and Events Centre in Rayleigh on Tuesday 3 November 2026, where the winners will be announced.
