A new out-of-hours mental health support service has opened in Havering, providing free, confidential support for adults experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis.

The Reset Hub, based at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub on Suttons Lane, has been launched through a partnership between mental health charity Hestia and the North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT).

The service is open to Havering residents aged 18 and over, as well as their carers, and aims to provide a safe and welcoming alternative for people who need urgent emotional support but do not require hospital treatment.

Unlike many mental health services, the Reset Hub operates during evenings, weekends and bank holidays, when access to community support can often be limited. The hub is open from 5pm to 10pm on weekdays and 2pm to 10pm at weekends and on public holidays.

People can simply walk in without an appointment or referral, or contact the service by calling 020 3816 1365.

Support is provided by trained staff who offer practical advice, emotional support and personalised plans to help people access ongoing care and local services. The aim is to provide early intervention, helping people manage their mental health before problems escalate and reducing pressure on busy emergency departments.

Patrick Ryan, Chief Executive of Hestia, said:

“Our Reset Hub will provide vital support to people in Havering at a time when demand for crisis services continues to rise. Our services offer a lifeline, offering both compassion and practical support for people. By providing early, specialist help in the community, outside of normal working hours, these hubs also play a crucial role in easing pressure on our overstretched emergency services and ensuring people get the right support at the right time.”

NELFT says the new service has been designed to complement existing NHS mental health provision by offering a calm and therapeutic environment where people can seek help without needing to attend A&E.

Irvine Muronzi, Director of Integrated Care for Havering, said:

“We are delighted to work with Hestia for this vital out-of-hours support, especially as the service is free and available 365 days a year without any referral. We encourage our community to walk in or phone Hestia to discuss their needs and access the support they deserve.”

The service has already been welcomed by local patient and carer groups, who say it will provide an important additional source of support for people experiencing mental health difficulties outside normal working hours.
