Parking charges at Queen’s Hospital in Romford and King George Hospital in Ilford will increase from Monday 21 September, although a new free 30-minute parking period is being introduced.
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust says the free period is intended to help people making brief visits, such as collecting prescriptions or dropping off items for patients.
The Trust last changed its parking charges in 2024 and says improvements have since been made to its parking facilities.
At the multi-storey car park at Queen’s Hospital in Romford, work has included upgraded lighting, additional pedestrian walkways, new doors and resurfacing. Anti-slip coatings have also been applied to stairs which could become slippery during wet weather.
New parking charges from 21 September
The Trust says the revised prices are comparable with local car parks and charges at other NHS trusts.

The largest increase will apply to stays of between nine and 12 hours, rising by £3 from £12 to £15. Parking for more than 12 hours will remain unchanged at £18.
The new charges will apply at both Queen’s Hospital in Romford and King George Hospital in Ilford from Monday 21 September 2026.
