Join Barking Dagenham and Havering Trades Union Council on International Workers Memorial Day

12.30pm on Tuesday 28th April 2026

At the Memorial to those who have lost their lives due to exposure to asbestos, in Barking Town Square

Refreshments and lunch will be served in Barking Town Hall, after the wreath laying and two minutes silence

On International Workers Memorial Day we gather to remember those who have lost their lives at work, or from work-related injury and diseases.  We renew our resolve to fight for safe and healthy working conditions in Britain and throughout the world.

We remember those we have lost. We organise in their memory.

Residents, support organisation, and trade union groups are invited to lay wreaths or flowers at the Memorial after the two minutes silence.  Wreaths can be left at Barking Town Hall on the morning of Monday 28th April.

A book of Remembrance will be displayed in the Town Hall to enter the names of those we have died due to asbestos.
