Barking & Dagenham Elect New Mayor

Cllr Eileen Keller has been officially elected as the new Mayor for Barking and Dagenham for 2016/2017 at the Annual Ceremonial Council (held 20th May).

She has been a member of the Council since May 2010,  she has a history with the borough, having worked for Ford’s before starting a 26 year career working for The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Cllr Keller is also a committed trade unionist, she  is currently Chair of the Barking and Dagenham Citizen Advice Bureau.

Cllr Keller said: “I am thrilled to be elected to serve as the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham for 2016 – 2017 and I am looking forward to representing the borough and working with our residents, the different community organisations and local businesses. 

The new Mayor has chosen Richard House (who provide specialist care to over 300 children and young adults with life-limiting health conditions) as their charity of the year.

Councillor Eileen Keller will be supported during her year of office by her, Mayoress Kira Keller (granddaughter) and her husband, Consort Reg Keller.
