Railway Strikes – August 2022

Multiple rail strikes are planned in August, 

A series of strikes by the RMT Union, TSSA Union, ASLEF & Unite Union are due to take place between 13th and 21st August 2022.

Significant disruption is expected on National Rail lines and some Transport For London (TfL) services, with some lines not operating and others starting later and finishing much earlier than usual.

Bedrock Radio are compiling information for services across East London & South Essex, to help you if you need to travel for an appointment or if you’re staff trying to get to work.
Check back regularly for details of each strike day service.


Here’s how the strikes affect East London & South Essex:
TPH = Train Per Hour


Strike Days: Saturday 20th August

First Trains from 07:00
Last Trains from 17:00

  • 2 TPH Shoeburyness to Fenchurch Street (Via Laindon)
  • 2 TPH Pitsea to Fenchurch Street (Via Rainham)
  • No trains will run via Ockendon or Chafford Hundred.
  • Services will begin from 0800 the day after the strike.
    Note engineering works will affect services Sunday.

Greater Anglia

Strike Days: Thursday 18th August

First Trains from 07:30
Last Trains from 17:00

  • 2 TPH Southend Victoria to Liverpool Street (No trains call at Romford)
  • 1 TPH Colchester to Liverpool Street (Essex Stopping service)
  • 1 TPH Norwich to Liverpool Street (Intercity)
  • 1 TPH Cambridge to Liverpool Street
  • Services will begin from 0800 the day after the strike. 
  • Sunday has Planned engineering works mostly affecting Cambridge lines around Waltham.

London Overground

Strike Days: Saturday 20th August.

First Trains from 08:00
Last Trains from 17:00

  • Expected No service – Gospal Oak to Bark Riverside.
  • No Night Overground.
  • Services will begin from 0800 the day after the strike. 
  • Some planned engineering works Sunday.

Elizabeth Line


  • Saturday 20th: Limited / Reduced Services East & West (Shenfield to Liverpool Street & Reading / Heathrow to Paddington)
  • Sunday 21st: Planned Engineering works, reduced service to 4 TPH between Liverpool Street & Shenfield.
  • Planned Closure – Abbey Wood to Paddington

London Underground

  • Underground services resume from 0800 Saturday.

During National Rail strike days (20th):

  • District: Limited service Richmond & Wimbledon
  • Bakerloo: No service north of Queen’s Park

London Buses – West London Only. 

Strike Days: Friday 19th August and Saturday 20th August.

Unite Union bus drivers in garages operated by London United, including Night Bus routes. This affects West London.

All other Bus routes will operate as normal.

The following services will run as usual:
Services maybe busier than normal.

  • London Buses (Except services in West London)
  • Thames Clippers
  • DLR
