Nominations are now open for the 2026 Brentwood and Rochford Sports Awards, celebrating local athletes, coaches, volunteers and community clubs. Residents have until Friday 11 September to submit nominations ahead of the awards ceremony in Rayleigh this November.
Brentwood Borough Council, in partnership with Axis, Seven Arches Investments Limited and the Brentwood Health and Wellbeing Board, is now accepting applications this year’s Brentwood Community Fund.
Local organisations and individuals are invited to apply for funding to support community projects. Grants ranging from £2,000 to £6,500 are available for projects delivered between 1 June 2026 and 31 March 2027 that aim to improve quality of life for residents and address key community issues. – Deadline for applications is 16 March 2026.
National Highways has been working hard since 2022 to improve J28 of the M25 and A12, which connects the capital with Essex.
With the construction phase now complete, a host of dignitaries and stakeholders were invited to celebrate the milestone and reflect on what came before the laying of the motorway.
This included a poignant unveiling of a plaque in memory of an airman who tragically died in 1937, when the site was used as an airfield.
