Three new 24/7 Community Mental Health Hubs are planned for Waltham Forest, Barking and Dagenham, and Redbridge. NELFT says the facilities will provide crisis support closer to home and offer an alternative to hospital admission where appropriate. The first two hubs are expected to open in 2028, followed by Redbridge in 2030.
A new confidential text service (07860 009642) has launched across north east London, allowing people of all ages to reach NHS 111 mental health crisis support without making a phone call. Developed by ELFT and NELFT, the service enables users to text “help” or even a blank message to receive immediate psychological support and signposting in a safe, discreet manner.

Work to modernise and expand several GP surgeries in North East London has been given the green light, with £3.3Million funding from the Department of Health and Social Care. Projects will include refurbishing and reconfiguring existing spaces to create new consultation and treatment rooms, making better use of space so patients can be seen faster.
