First Bus Essex has expanded Bus route B1 directly linking Basildon and Laindon to Harold Wood, providing a connection to the Elizabeth Line. Which also provides a new and much-welcome bus connection that crosses the Greater London / Essex border. With the B1 running every 20 minutes and singles fares just £3.
National Highways has launched a year-long trial installing QR codes near motorways and major A-roads to help people quickly access local mental health support through the Hub of Hope platform. The initiative aims to encourage people to seek help before reaching crisis point and forms part of ongoing work to improve safety across England’s strategic road network.
Works at Gallows corner have been extended again until ‘End Of August’ according to Transport For London (TfL), as Essex & Suffolk Water are still working on the water main that spans the junction.
The busy Romford Junction is partially open, with restrictions in place for the main work sites….
Works continue at Gallows Corner, However TfL have a traffic order in place, which bans vehicles from travelling on this section of the road in a south-easterly direction, until June 30 or until the works have been completed,
The next round of Tube Operator strikes are due to take place on the London Underground from May 19th to 22nd.
All other TfL modes & National Rail will operate as normal, but maybe busier than normal – Especially in Central London.
Gallows Corner will partially reopen on Sunday, May 10, restoring access to the eastbound flyover, Straight Road, and Main Road. The westbound flyover and parts of the A12 remain closed to allow for ongoing water main repairs.

Bus passengers in East and Northeast London face severe disruption as Stagecoach drivers from the Lea Interchange Bus Garage plan four days of strikes: Friday 12 & Saturday 13 December 2025 and Thursday 8 & Friday 9 January 2026. Little or no service is expected on 13 routes, including key connections through Stratford, Walthamstow, and routes serving Homerton and Whipps Cross Hospitals.
